Rory O’Neill, aka Panti or Panti Bliss, is Ireland’s foremost “accidental activist”; a drag queen, a bar owner and gay rights activist. Panti has written and performed three critically acclaimed, hit theatre shows: In These Shoes, All Dolled Up and A Woman in Progress. In 2013, All Dolled Up: Restitched, a reimagining of the three hit shows had a sold out run at the Abbey Theatre and toured Australia. He was heavily involved in the campaign for gay rights in the run up to the referendum on marriage equality for same-sex couples in Ireland. He is renowned for ‘The Noble Call’, his impassioned performance on stigma around homosexuality in Ireland performed at the Abbey Theatre in 2014, and he was the basis of the 2015 documentary entitled ‘The Queen of Ireland’. Panti’s memoir, Woman in the Making, was published in 2014.
