Colm Tóibín in Conversation

“Since he published his first novel, The South in 1990, Colm has written eleven more books of fiction. He has also published three reported books, three collections of essays, dozens of introductions to other writers’ work, prefaces to art catalogues, an opera libretto, plays, poems, and so many reviews that it’s surprising when a week goes by and he hasn’t been in at least one of the New York, London, or Dublin papers” – so opened a New Yorker profile of Colm Tóibín. And who are we to argue? A full life, lived at 100 miles an hour, every day, Colm Tóibín is one of Ireland’s most prominent and prolific authors, and we are delighted he is in Dalkey to talk about that life as well as his latest novel, Long Island, a sequel to Brooklyn. Don’t miss this chat with the great man of Irish letters.
