Bill Emmott

Bill Emmott is a writer and consultant best known for his 13 years as editor in chief of The Economist and his books about Japan, Italy and geopolitics. He is now chairman of the International Institute for Strategic Studies in London, a trustee of the Chester Beatty Library in Dublin, an Ushioda Fellow at Tokyo College, University of Tokyo, and a Media Fellow at the Institute for European Policymaking at Bocconi University in Milan. His latest book, published in 2024 by Routledge/IISS, was “Deterrence, Diplomacy and the Risk of Conflict over Taiwan”; a Japanese translation was published under the title "How to Stop World War Three".
