Plan your visit to dalkey book festival

HOW TO GET TO DALKEY

We strongly encourage travel by public transport (DART, bus or taxi).  There is no event parking available.

 

DART: Direct services to Dalkey Station from Dublin city centre.
Bus Routes: 59, 111, 7D & 7E serve Dalkey. Guests travelling on the 7 or 7A should change to the 59 or 111 in the Dun Laoghaire/Glasthule area.
Airport: Aircoach 702 operates between Dublin Airport and Dalkey.

Parking: Parking in Dalkey is extremely limited during the festival weekend. Note: The Castle Street church car park closes at 7pm on Saturday evening and reopens Sunday morning.
Seafront Stage: Approximately 20 minutes on foot from Dalkey village/DART station. No parking available at Dillon’s Park or on Coliemore Road.

is there parking?

There is limited parking in Dalkey and suggest you take public transport wherever possible. Car parks are marked on the map. 
NOTE – Park Rite Dalkey Church car park closes at midnight on Saturday night and does not reopen until Sunday afternoon.  No overnight parking is permitted on Saturday night. 
There is no parking at the Seafront venue in Dillons Park

where are the venues?

Most of our venues are located in the heart of Dalkey town.  See the festival map for locations of each venue. 
  • Loreto Abbey Secondary School is accessible via Loreto Avenue, located off Harbour Road. Note that this venue has no parking. It is a 10-minute walk from Dalkey DART Station.
  • The Seafront venue is located in Dillon’s Park on Coliemore Road, approximately 20 minutes’ walk from the town.
  • St. Patrick’s Church on Harbour Road  is located 10 minutes’ walk from the town centre.
  • Cuala is located approx 5-8 minutes’ walk from the Town Hall
  • All other venues (the Heritage Centre, the Masonic Lodge, Finnegan’s, and the Vico) are located on, or adjacent to, Castle St (the main street), Dalkey.
  • Fitzpatrick's Castle is located approximately 12 minutes walk up the hill from the town centre, and there will be a shuttle bus running from 3pm-11pm on Saturday.
