John Lappin
John is a Laois-based artist whose work blends Irish traditional music with experimental and ambient sound. Having played traditional music from a young age, he performs on bouzouki, guitar, and piano, and also works with analogue synthesizers, tape machines and field recordings to create immersive, droning soundscapes. His music sits at the crossroads of melody and drone, drawing on the pulse of folk music, the patience of ambient sound, and the use of field recordings and found sound to create pieces that feel both organic and contemporary. John composed music in collaboration with Charlie Jermyn for the audiobook of The Boy, The Bucket and The Persistent Tide.
