Nelofer Pazira-Fisk

Nelofer Pazira is a journalist, filmmaker, and human rights activist based in Toronto. She starred in Kandahar (2001), a film inspired by her journey to Afghanistan, and later co-directed the Gemini Award-winning documentary Return to Kandahar (2003).

Her memoir, A Bed of Red Flowers, won the Drainie-Taylor Biography Prize and offers a personal perspective on life in Afghanistan before the Taliban. A regular contributor to CBC’s The National, she also founded the Dyana Afghan Women’s Fund, supporting education and skills training for women in Kandahar.
