Nicolas Marcoux

Nicolas Marcoux is a leading French expert in development cooperation, human rights and governance, with over 40 years experience working largely across Africa and Europe. Formerly Director of the Foundation for Human Rights in South Africa and Head of Operations for the European Agency for Reconstruction in Belgrade, he has also held several roles with the Department of Foreign Affairs and the Institute of Public Administration in Ireland. He currently serves on the Board of Front Line Defenders and provides support to the European Commission on EU external action. He holds a Masters in Public Law from the University of Paris Assas-Pantheon, in European Legal Studies from the College of Europe, Bruges, and a Doctorate in Governance from Queen’s University, Belfast.
